Moscow State University of Food Production Technologies is one of the largest technical universities in Russia to train specialists for the food processing industries, agribusiness and biotechnology industries. Moscow State University of Food Production Technologies was founded in 1930 as a Moscow Institute of Technology of grain and flour, to prepare qualified engineers and skilled workers for the food industry. In 1941 Moscow Institute of Technology of grain and flour merged with the Institute of Moscow Institute of the milling industry and elevator industry. The combined institution was named as Moscow Technological Institute of Food Industry. In 1992 Moscow Technological Institute of Food Industry became Moscow Technological Academy of Food Industry. In 1996 Moscow Technological Academy of Food Industry received the status of University. Currently Moscow State University of Food Production Technologies enrolls 8000 students. Till now Moscow State University of Food Production Technologies has trained 22000 students. Today Moscow State University of Food Production Technologies has 4 faculties, 35 departments and staff of 525 highly qualified teachers.
