Kazan State University of Art and Culture was founded in 1969 as a branch of the Leningrad State Institute of Culture. In 1974 the Institute was reorganized to the Kazan State Institute of Culture. In 1991 it was renamed the Kazan State Institute of Arts and Culture. In May 1995, the institute received the status of the Academy. On July 4, 2002 was granted the status of Kazan State University of Culture and Arts. In 2001, the association established the Kazan State University of Art and Culture, a regional center educational district, which comprises more than 20 educational institutions of culture and art of the Middle Volga. Today, Kazan State University of Culture and Arts is a dynamic leading regional center of culture, science, education and arts, in which the classical tradition of high school is combined with the latest educational technology.
