Far Eastern State Academy of Arts

Far Eastern State Academy of Arts is the center of the complex study of artistic culture of Primorsky Krai (Maritime Province) and the Far East. Far Eastern State Academy of Arts is one of the oldest and reputed academies located in Vladivostok city of Russian federation. Far Eastern State Academy of Arts was established by the Ministry of Culture in January 1962 as Far Eastern Pedagogical Institute of Arts. Far Eastern Pedagogical Institute of Arts was Russia’s first Institute who brought together three kinds of art(music, theater, painting). April 25, 1962 Professor Herman V. Vasiliev was the first appointed rector of the Far Eastern Pedagogical Institute of Arts. In 1992, Far Eastern Pedagogical Institute of Arts was renamed Eastern State Institute of Arts and in 2000 it became Far Eastern State Academy of Arts. Today research activities of Far Eastern State Academy of Arts covers a wide range of areas like fundamental, applied research and development. Its perspective includes the study of cultural science, theoretical and historical musicology, folklore and professional art, the Pacific Rim countries culture, theory and history of the performing arts, and education.
