South Ural StateMedical University (Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy) is a higher education institution under federal control that implements a multi-level system of continuous training of specialists with higher medical, pharmaceutical and humanitarian education from secondary schools to doctoral studies. South Ural State Medical University was established in 1944 as Chelyabinsk State Medical Institute when Kyiv Medical Institute was transferred to Chelyabinsk city. In 1995 Chelyabinsk State Medical Institute was renamed Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy. Today the South Ural State Medical University has a teaching staff of 740 teachers, including 157 doctors, 390 candidates of sciences who train 4500 students in 62 departments. During 70 years of history South Ural State Medical University has trained over 24000 professionals.
