Astrakhan State Medical Academy
Astrakhan State Medical University is one of the oldest universities in the city of Astrakhan. Astrakhan State Medical University was founded in 1918 as the Medical Faculty of the University of Astrakhan. In 1922, all the faculties of the University of Astrakhan were abolished except medical, which later converted into Astrakhan State Medical Institute. In 1993 Astrakhan State Medical Institute opened the faculty of postgraduate education. In 1995, Astrakhan State Medical Institute was renamed Astrakhan State Medical Academy. In October 2014 Astrakhan State Medical Academy was renamed Astrakhan State Medical University. Today Astrakhan State Medical University consists of 12 faculties, 60 departments and courses. Astrakhan State Medical University has a postgraduate study in 26 specialties and doctorate in 3. Currently, Astrakhan State Medical University trained 3,780 students, 197 interns, 176 residents, 73 graduate students. Since 1923 Astrakhan State Medical University has produced more than 25,400 physicians. Astrakhan State Medical University has a postgraduate study in 26 specialties and doctorate in 13 fields.
